In 1952 Italy adopts a new highway code, which imposes new regulations regarding the extent of trucks.
Because of this, at the end of the year, Fiat replaces the 680N, in production since 1948, with a new model: the 682N. The first model produced resumes (with a slight increase in power) the engine of the 680, that is, a 6 cylinder with 10.17 liters of displacement and 122 mm of piston bore, and is therefore called Fiat 682 “122”. The chassis, cab, gearbox and differential are newly designed.
